So I have been quiet on my blog of late due to sheer volume of work leading up to the end of the school year. Last weekend I took a well earnt holiday to visit a musician friend based in Mallorca and soaked up the sunshine and had tremendous fun.

The past couple of years I have volunteered as a music lead at the super summer SING! festival. The experience was incredible and I made life long friends from around the world. At the end of the festival last year I received a phone call from the Artistic director Sonya Keogh asking me to come on board as the Festival Manager for the 2017 festival. Thankfully I was sitting down as wow what a promotion! So in January the process started and now as we count down the days to the festival we are in full swing in the office.

summer SING! is a week-long singing festival for children aged 6-14 that encourages them to experience SINGING! whilst soaking up the culture and atmosphere of their City. The children are taken to various different ‘hubs’ around Cork and whilst there they learn songs and discover what the venues have to offer Cork. There will be three performance experiences this year one of which is called SING! and SIGN! where they will not only sing their songs but perform them through sign language.

If you know of any children that would love to be involved in this fabulous festival then please check out our website www.summersing.ie where you will find the registration form and details of payment. We have extended the deadline to allow as many children the chance to experience this wonderful week of SINGING! laughter and fun. For further details contact us in the ARTlifeCULTURE office in Civic Trust House. (021) 421 5103.

Happy SINGING!
